TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE PROCESS

1. The FFNA Application

Your school will need an FFNA application packet for each family that is requesting financial aid. (You will not need a packet for parents who apply on-line.) The application packet consists of an “Application for Financial Aid” form, an instruction booklet, a Payment and Tracking Envelope, and a return envelope in which to mail back the completed application.

The parents return the completed form directly to FFNA along with a copy of their most recent federal income taxes and their processing fee. (Those who apply on-line must use a valid credit card.) The processing fees are as follows:

Regular processing (paper application only) is $20.
(Assessment returned to your school in approximately four weeks.)

On-Line Regular processing is $30.
(Assessment returned to your school in approximately two weeks.)

Fast Back processing (available both in the paper application as well as the
on-line application) is $40.
(Assessment will be returned to the school in approximately two to three business days.)

2. The FFNA Process

Upon receipt of the application, FFNA reviews the financial data and recommends financial aid based on a standard method of computation. The formula used to determine our recommendation is based on your tuition structure rather than national norms. Sample Application

After final review, FFNA sends your school an individual Parent Report giving our recommendation for each family that applies for aid (Sample Parent Report). A cumulative Board Report is also available upon request or can be printed off the web (Sample Board Report).

REMEMBERthe school maintains control. All reports are sent to your school, not to the families. You can adjust our financial aid recommendations depending upon the funds you have available.

3. The FFNA 24 Hour On-Line Access

On-Line Access to Tracking and Cumulative Board Reports:
Because of the sensitivity of the reports, each school is asked to name a contact person with whom our staff works in case there are questions. All Parent Reports are sent to this individual. Other contact people may be listed by the school in case the main contact is unavailable. The main contact is given a username and a password so that your school can go on-line every day if you desire to see and print off the following information:

a. Tracking Report … This report shows every family from your school that has applied for financial aid, the date that the application was received in our office, and the type processing that was requested (Regular or Fast Back). It also tells the status of that application (i.e., if the application has been processed and the date the assessment was sent to your office; if the application is pending and the reason that it is pending).

b. Tracking Report of those awaiting process … This report lists only those families whose applications have not yet been processed.

c. Cumulative Board Report … This report gives an accumulation of all the families from your school who have applied for financial aid as well as a running total of the amount of aid recommended by FFNA.

What if FFNA’s recommendations exceed the school’s budget?
FFNA offers a free service called The Adjusted Rate which will allow schools to stay within their budget.
